Statement by President Higgins on the attacks in Mogadishu

"The appalling loss of innocent lives following the attack in Mogadishu will have shocked people all over the world.
It is important that all those who believe in democratic values and sustainable development remain steadfast in our resolve to resist the expressions of violence, hatred and division, and to offer our support for Somalia's efforts to build a future of peace and inclusion.
On behalf of the people of Ireland, may I express our deepest sympathies, and our solidarity, with the families of those affected and with the people of Mogadishu and Somalia."
