President visits Cluster Munition Remnant Survey Site

Some 85% of the land in Quang Tri province is contaminated by unexploded ordnance, dropped by the US during the Vietnam War.
More than 40 years after the conflict, unexploded ordnance remains a threat to the people in this area.
At the Mine Action Visitors Centre, the President received a demonstration of mine clearance work, and met with survivors of explosions.
Irish Aid supports the mine clearance operations in Quang Tri province.
