Dubhghlas de hÍde

Bhí Dubhglas de hÍde (ainm cleite “An Craoibhín Aoibhinn”) ar chéad Uachtarán na hÉireann ón 25 Meitheamh, 1938 go dtí an 24 Meitheamh, 1945.

Rugadh é ar an 17 Eanáir 1860, in An Caisleán Riabhach é, agus tógadh é i nDún Gar, Co. Ros Comáin, agus bhí sé ar chomhbhunaitheoir agus chéad Uachtarán (1893-1915) Chonradh na Gaeilge, gluaiseacht náisiúnta athbheochan na teanga Gaeilge. Fuair sé bás ar an 12 Iúil 1949.

Dubhglas de Híde (Douglas Hyde) (nom de plume “An Craoibhin Aoibhinn”) was the first President of Ireland from 25 June, 1938 to 24 June, 1945.

He was born on 17th January, 1860, in Frenchpark, Co. Roscommon, and was Co-founder and First President (1893-1915) of the Gaelic League, the national movement for the revival of the Irish language. He died on 12 July 1949.
