President unveils the Global Citizenship School signage

"The Global Citizenship Schools are not about awards. They are about the commitment any school in Ireland can make to nurture in their pupils a sense of justice, a feeling of belonging to the human family, a curiosity about the wider world, and a desire to care for their natural environment."

On 31 May, President Michael D. Higgins launched the 'Global Citizenship School' project, which provides lessons and other teaching resources for schools looking to include global development issues in their curriculum.

"It is to you, the children of today, that the twenty-first century belongs. It is upon you that we rely to take better care of planet Earth than my generation has, and to pass on to the next generations a more just world, in which all can lead happy and peaceful lives."
